1. When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls.

2. And there can be no denying of its befalling.

3. It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt;

4. When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake.

5. And the mountains will be powdered to dust.

6. So that they will become floating dust particles.

7. And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups).

8. So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise).

9. And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell).

10. And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise).

11. These will be those nearest to Allah.

12. In the Gardens of delight (Paradise).

13. A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam).

14. And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations).

15. (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones,

16. Reclining thereon, face to face.

17. They will be served by immortal boys,

18. With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine,

19. Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication.

20. And fruit; that they may choose.

21. And the flesh of fowls that they desire.

22. And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious),

23. Like unto preserved pearls.

24. A reward for what they used to do.

25. No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.).

26. But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace) !

27. And those on the Right Hand, – Who will be those on the Right Hand?

28. (They will be) among thornless lote-trees,

29. Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another,

30. In shade long-extended,

31. By water flowing constantly,

32. And fruit in plenty,

33. Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off,

34. And on couches or thrones, raised high.

35. Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation.

36. And made them virgins.

37. Loving (their husbands only), equal in age.

38. For those on the Right Hand.

39. A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam).

40. And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations).

41. And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand?

42. In fierce hot wind and boiling water,

43. And shadow of black smoke,

44. (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good,

45. Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury,

46. And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.)

47. And they used to say: “When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected?

Chapter 56, Al- Waqiyaah, verses 1-47.

  1. The Ayah(s) that mentions that more people will be from earlier generations and less from later generations is a warning for us. Only if we ponder. May Allah guide us all to Sirat-e-Mustaqeem. Ameen

  2. Nothing is more beautiful then Ayah of Quran e Pak… Jazak Allah….
Allah may guide us all to Sirat e Mustaqim………. Ameen…….

  3. Assalamoalaikum,

You know i use to think about this, but there is one thing that is a fact, in jannah there will be no negative emotions and no injustice.

The women of this world who go to Jannah will far exceed the beauty of the hoors and even in Quran it says that they will be the queens of the hoors and will be sitting on thrones made of gold and silver..

Anything is possible for Allah, the men will please their wives foremost, Jannah is a reward for the deeds in this world, it is not going to be another test of pateince and courage!! When we go there, we will only have good things. Here is a link with your answer:

Hope that helped girl, ur already jealous of the hoors of your future husband:P

Dont worry theyll be jealous of you when you’re there, hehehe

  4. I suppose we all have our own thoughts and agreements or disagreements, I actually have no idea of how they’ll be, perhaps you’re right that they wont be women, as the husbands will primarily want their wives and be attracted to them and no where in the Quran the word woman has been used, just “hoor ul ein”.. I just wonder how Jannah will be like, dont you 😛

  5. Thanks for this post sis 🙂 Worth readin over N over again, subhan-AllAh. As for Hoor hmmmm, I find the post on Aisha’s blog about that quite something to think about N understand. God bless 🙂

  6. My friend..after going through ur post i only wanted to ask one question from u and that is “if the Foremost people and the people on the Right hand side” were so good in their deeds throughout their lives and followed all the sayings, preachings as well as teachings of the god then is it possible that after going to the heaven they will still have the attraction for these mortal gratifications like whatever u mentioned viz chairs made of gold and precious metals, flesh for eating and Hoors/b’ful women for making their lifes beautiful

I feel if it is written anywhere then it is one of the biggest lies since a person who renounces these worldly pleasures for seeking god or helping the others and mankind will never bow down for such small physical gratifications..

hence everything mentioned by you or somebody else which has been reproduced by you here is nothing but a crap in my belief !!

    1. I dont know if after all this time you’d come back to read my reply or not, but I couldn’t open my blog for several months..

I think that you are taking the whole rewards thing Very superficially. Allah and the imagination of Paradise and Hell are beyond our mental capability. We can not know what we haven’t seen, hence Allah has told us about these things in the Quran. We as Muslims know that many things that are said, are to be there to be understood by our Mortal understanding. Like a mother would speak to a child in his language to make him understand, at least partially for prevention or encouraging something, similarly Allah with these examples encourage us to be good and keep away from fire.

It is not the allure of the material things that people want to go to Paradise, it is to meet Allah. The biggest wish a true believer has is to meet with His Lord as His Lord is happy with him, it is rarely the persuit of what you called the materialistic acquisitions. To tell us how pleased Allah will be, he tells us according to our own imaginations what we will get there, like a mother would tell a child, that if he did something good, he’d get a reward. It is not about the reward, but it is the fact that they made their parents so happy that they even gave a reward in appreciation; which is what matters to the child.
We would also, definately not have the same feelings and thoughts there, it would be only a happy place where there will only be peace and no boredom, no negativity of any kind, no antagonism.. Now from this world’s point of view, adventurous people may not even want to go there, but these feelings and thoughts are restricted to our world, and only fit in here, they do not apply there.

There will be one thing though, the dwellers of paradise will be happy they are there and the dwellers of Hell would not be happy that they are there. Whoever doesn’t want paradise, paradise doesn’t want them.

Furthermore, the people who obey Allah and persue His happiness do not have to give up worldly pleasures, because it is for us that Allah has made it, it is the temptation to do bad that Allah has firbidden.

One can marry if one has physical desires for opposite sex, a man can marry upto four wives and still obey Allah, fast in ramadan, do salah when its time, give the Zakaat, charity and women can still do the things that Allah wants us to even while having husbands and homes. People can earn lots of money and enjoy it, have children, have fancy clothes and cars, homes. But the things that are not allowed are, adultery, fornication, theft, being proud, arrogant ,an impolite and bad person in general and many other bad things, as judged by any social or moral code.
What Allah asks of us is not to abandon the world, rather recognise Him and obey Him alone and do not ascribe partners to Him.

It is like having parents from our petit minds, they bring us into the world and in retrun, they give us their surname, recognition of their relation to us, and expect our affection, respect and care towards them..

Allah has given us much more than our parents have, our lives, our sustenance, our everything and on top of that Allah promises a huge reward in the form of Paradise for prompt and well behaved people…

it is as simple as that isn’t it?
