Al-Fussilat

Ha. Mim. (1)

A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful,(2)

A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, (3)

Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. (4)

And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. (5)

Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your God is One God, therefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, (6)

Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. (7)

Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. (8)

Say (O Muhammad, unto the idolaters): Disbelieve ye verily in Him Who created the earth in two Days, and ascribe ye unto Him rivals? He (and none else) is the Lord of the Worlds. (9)

He placed therein firm hills rising above it, and blessed it and measured therein its sustenance in four Days, alike for (all) who ask; (10)

Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient. (11)

Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Knower. (12)

But if they turn away, then say: I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt (which fell of old upon the tribes) of A’ad and Thamud; (13)

When their messengers came unto them from before them and behind them, saying: Worship none but Allah! they said: If our Lord had willed, He surely would have sent down angels (unto us), so lo! we are disbelievers in that wherewith ye have been sent. (14)

As for A’ad, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: Who is mightier than us in power? Could they not see that Allah Who created them, He was mightier than them in power? And they denied Our revelations. (15)

Therefore We let loose on them a raging wind in evil days, that We might make them taste the torment of disgrace in the life of the world. And verily the doom of the Hereafter will be more shameful, and they will not be helped. (16)

Al – Fatir

Assalamoalaikum,

I was just going through this Surah in the morning when I thought about how arrogant and proud we have become.  We are so busy in our daily lives and acheivements that we deem ourselves invincible. Whenever Allah has mentioned bad people in Quran, He only mentioned their bad qualities, not them being bad souls. Allah created us all equally with love, saying the kalima doesn’t make us Superior to other people, our humulity and deeds do, and that only to Allah if we are not proud about them.

The Munafeqeen will be punished only because of thier Nifaaq, if we exhibit the same nifaaq, we will also come in the category of people Allah dislikes… When we are obsessed with ourselves alone and blindly do what our Nafs ( inner self) wants to do, then we also, to some extent are committing shirk, so all the verses in the Quran prohibiting Shirk ( associating Partners with Allah ) and about its punishments apply to us. How?

When we do whatever we want and do not control our nafs and obey the Laws and Limits Allah has sent down for us, we are actually worshipping our Nafs and our “Hawa” ( desires, needs) as they come, like animals…. Worshipping anything besides Allah is Shirk…

We dress the way we feel like,w e eat what we feel like, we speak what we want… We call it freedom of actiona nd thought and speech.

May Allah forgive us, and guide us to the right path, ameen..

Allah have mercy on us, Ameen.

1. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the (only) Originator [or the (only) Creator] of the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels messengers with wings, – two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Verily, Allâh is Able to do all things.

2. Whatever of mercy (i.e.of good), Allâh may grant to mankind, none can withhold it, and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter. And He is the All Mighty, the All Wise.

3. O mankind! Remember the Grace of Allâh upon you! Is there any creator other than Allâh who provides for you from the sky (rain) and the earth? Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turning away (from Him)?

4. And if they belie you (O Muhammad SAW), so were Messengers belied before you. And to Allâh return all matters (for decision).

5. O mankind! Verily, the Promise of Allâh is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allâh.

6. Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his Hizb (followers) that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire.

7. Those who disbelieve, theirs will be a severe torment; and those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).

8. Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair seeming, so that he considers it as good (equal to one who is rightly guided)? Verily, Allâh sends astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. So destroy not yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in sorrow for them. Truly, Allâh is the All Knower of what they do!

9. And it is Allâh Who sends the winds, so that they raise up the clouds, and We drive them to a dead land, and revive therewith the earth after its death. As such (will be) the Resurrection!

10. Whosoever desires honour, power and glory then to Allâh belong all honour, power and glory [and one can get honour, power and glory only by obeying and worshipping Allâh (Alone)]. To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds exalt it (the goodly words i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allâh unless and until they are followed by good deeds), but those who plot evils, theirs will be severe torment. And the plotting of such will perish.

11. And Allâh did create you (Adam) from dust, then from Nutfah (male and female discharge semen drops i.e. Adam’s offspring), then He made you pairs (male and female). And no female conceives or gives birth, but with His Knowledge. And no aged man is granted a length of life, nor is a part cut off from his life (or another man’s life), but is in a Book (Al Lauh Al Mahfûz) Surely, that is easy for Allâh.

( Al Fatir, Chapter 35, Al Quran, Verses 1-11)

Being Virtuous

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

58. Those were some
Of the prophets on whom
God did bestow His Grace,—
Of the posterity of Adam,
And of those whom We
Carried (in the Ark)
With Noah, and of
The posterity of Abraham
And Israel—of those
Whom We guided and chose.
Whenever the Signs
Of (God) Most Gracious
Were rehearsed to them,
They would fall down
In prostrate adoration
And in tears.

59. But after them there followed
A posterity who missed
Prayers and followed after lusts
Soon, then, will they
Face Destruction,—

60. Except those who repent
And believe, and work
Righteousness: for these
Will enter the Garden
And will not be wronged
In the least,—

72. But We shall save those

Who guarded against evil,
And We shall leave
The wrong-doers therein,
(Humbled) to their knees.

(Surah Al Maryam, Chapter 19, Verses 58-60 and 72)

Assalamoalaikum,

These are a few verses from the Quran. We all think about the mercy of Allah but we are too relaxed when Shaytaan makes us believe we do not need to make any effort or do any good deeds as Allah’s mercy is vast. This is not true. We must remember that in addition to having our intentions pure and clean, we also need to make an effort.

It is like obeying parents or a loved one. We know we love them but we also need to show them we love them.  The Prophet Sallalaho alaihi wassalam says that we should buy presents to promote love between relatives, friends and neighbours. Every relationship needs to be worked on…

In our case, it is very important to act on our beliefs, on our faith and to try our best to please Allah. The pupose of our life is to Obey Allah. Allah has created us to see which ones of us obey Him and which ones do not.

From the above verses we understand that the emphasis is on “‘amaal” good deeds and being virtuous. Doing acts of goodness to please Allah, and striving hard to achieve success.

There are people who will have pure intentions and lacked the means to please Allah or simply didnt but Allah with his mercy will forgive them, but time and again Allah mentions that the people who Allah will have mercy on, will be the people who at least tried..

The big difference between Muslims is the actions. In the Quran it is mentioned many times like:

23. God will admit those

Who believe and work righteous deeds,
To Gardens beneath which
Rivers flow: they shall be
Adorned therein with bracelets
Of gold and pearls; and
Their garments there
Will be of silk.

Surah Al Hajj, Verse 23 )

May Allah give us the taufeeq to correct our beliefs and the strength to do righteous deeds based on it to please Him alone, ameen.

Heed

2. Is it a matter of wonderment to men that We have sent Our inspiration to a man from among themselves?- that he should warn mankind (of their danger), and give the good news to the Believers that they have before their Lord the lofty rank of truth. (But) say the Unbelievers: “This is indeed an evident sorcerer!”

3. Verily your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority), regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after His leave (hath been obtained). This is Allah your Lord; Him therefore serve ye: will ye not receive admonition?

4. To Him will be your return- of all of you. The promise of Allah is true and sure. It is He Who beginneth the process of creation, and repeateth it, that He may reward with justice those who believe and work righteousness; but those who reject Him will have draughts of boiling fluids, and a penalty grievous, because they did reject Him.

5. It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), and measured out stages for her; that ye might know the number of years and the count (of time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (Thus) doth He explain His Signs in detail, for those who understand.

6. Verily, in the alternation of the night and the day, and in all that Allah hath created, in the heavens and the earth, are signs for those who fear Him.

Phases and Duniya..

Bissmillahi Rahmani Raheem.

Assalamoalikum,alhamdolillah

I think I had been absent for some time due to being very busy with the family and also sorting myself out. Sometimes we go through silly phases and I am so relieved that I am back to the real world!! Alhamdolillah!!

InshaAllah I will be posting some useful stuff again as I have restarted my study on Quran. May Allah give us all taufeeq to do good for ourselves and everyone around us, ameen.

I also wanted to share some verses which ALWAYS makes me think..

20. Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children, as the likeness of vegetation after rain, thereof the growth is pleasing to the tiller; afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes straw. But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment (for the disbelievers, evil-doers), and (there is) Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the believers, good-doers), whereas the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment.

21. Race one with another in hastening towards Forgiveness from your Lord (Allah), and towards Paradise, the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. That is the Grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He pleases. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.

( Surah Al Hadid, Chapter 7,  Verses 20 and 21)

May Allah forgive us all, ameen.
